2002 Creativity Summer Camp

In response to the increasing demands for more opportunities in creativity education, a Creativity Summer Camp was organized for the first time at the HKFYG Jockey Club Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp, from 30 July to 1 August, for 172 young people from Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore and Hong Kong. The programme was aimed at developing the creative potential of students in a pleasurable environment, encouraging them to be creative when solving problems, and facilitating exchanges in creative thinking.

The Summer Camp highlighted a creativity journey for the participants, the focus of which being on the creative application of classroom knowledge, with special emphasis on science, art, music and general problem-solving skills.

Specialists from different disciplines were invited to host a series of interactive activities for our young people. While having a great deal of fun, all the participants managed to apply their own creative strategies in solving a basket of problems.

An Outburst of Creativity in Bridge Building

The curtain raiser to the entire programme was the bridge-building competition, wherein each group of participants tried to create a bridge from a vast array of materials and using their own imagination. The bridge was to demonstrate how a little creativity could change the world and improve the living conditions of people.

Students' innovative ideas together with their creativity spirits make their bridges unique ones in the world.
Dr. Rosanna Wong, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Steering Committee cheers the participants for their hard work.
