The Odyssey of the Mind Programme was introduced to Hong Kong in 1995 under the joint patronage and effort of the Education Department (now the Education and Manpower Bureau) and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. Since its inception, the Programme has been very successful in nurturing the creative faculties of the students in the local territory and has proven to be a meaningful annual event for young people.

With the enthusiastic support of principals, teachers, parents and students, the scale of the Programme has been expanding. It is deeply rewarding that students find the Programme to be an outlet for their creative and innovative spirits. To date, over 12,000 students have enjoyed the fun of this Programme.

The holding of the Local Competitions in March every year largely constitutes the Programme. The championship teams in the Local Competitions may be sponsored to participate in the World Finals held in the United States.

The results of the Hong Kong teams at the World Finals have shown a marked improvement over the past few years, with most of the teams placing in the top ten. It was most gratifying to see that one of the teams, Ho Fung College, was crowned World Champion in 2000.

November 1995	Seminar on the "Implementation of Odyssey of the Mind Programme" by Mr. Chen Wei-xin, Director of the Shanghai Odyssey of the Mind Association
March 1996	A visit to the Shanghai Odyssey of the Mind Association by Members of the Steering Committee and Sub-committees
May 1996	Chartered by the Odyssey of the Mind Association, Inc. to conduct a Regional Competition in Hong Kong
May 1996	A trial run competition with the participation of four schools
May - June 1996	A visit to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in Iowa, USA by Members of the Steering Committee
March 1997	1997 Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Pilot Run Competition with the participation of 15 teams from 12 schools
March 1997	Odyssey of the Mind Workshop by Ms. Mo Guy, Training Facilitator of Odyssey of the Mind Association, Inc. and Mr. Chen Wei-xin, Director of the Shanghai Odyssey of the Mind Association
June 1997	Two Championship Teams participate for the first time in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in Maryland, USA
June 1997	The Hong Kong Delegation placed among the 10 best finalists in the Float and Banner Parade
July 1997	A Hong Kong Delegation participates in the Shanghai Odyssey of the Mind Summer Camp
March 1998	1998 Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competitions with the participation of 44 teams from 30 secondary schools
May 1998	Four Championship Teams participate in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in Florida, USA
March 1999	1999 Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competitions with the participation of 46 teams from 31 secondary schools and two youth centres
May 1999	Four Championship Teams participate in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in Tennessee, USA
November 1999	A Hong Kong Delegation participates in the 1st Odyssey of the Mind Television Competition in Shanghai
April 2000	2000 Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competitions with the participation of 74 teams from 56 primary and secondary schools and 8 youth centres
May 2000	Five Championship Teams participate in the Odyssey of Mind 2000 World Finals in Tennessee, USA
March 2001	2001 Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competitions with the participation of 83 teams from 60 primary and secondary schools, and 5 youth centres
June 2001	Five Championship Teams participate in the Odyssey of the Mind 2001 World Finals in Maryland, USA
June 2001	The Hong Kong Delegation placed among the 10 best finalists in the Float and Banner Parade
March 2002	2002 Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competitions with the participation of 105 teams from 75 primary and secondary schools, and 8 youth centres
May 2002	Six Championship Teams participate in the Odyssey of the Mind 2002 World Finals in Denver, USA
August 2002	A total of 145 local secondary school students and 28 students from Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Singapore participate in the 2002 Creativity Summer Camp
March 2003	2003 Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Competitons with the participation of 134 teams from 92 primary and secondary schools, and 7 youth centres
July 2003	11 winning teams from the 2003 Local Competitions invited to present their Long-term problem solution at the Creativity Performance Presentation, attracting over 650 principals, teachers, parents and students
March 2004	2004 Local Competitions - with the participation of 152 teams from 120 primary and secondary schools, and youth centres
May 2004	2004 World Finals - 7 Championship Teams participate in the 2004 World Finals in Maryland , USA
May 2004	Outstanding Performance at the 2004 World Finals – Munsang College (HK Island) had won the 1 st Runner-up among the 53 teams in 《 Strategy Sphere 》 Division II
April 2005	2005 Local Competitions - with the participation of 140 teams from 110 primary and secondary schools, and youth centres

	Won the Highest Honour in the 2005 World Finals - Pok Oi Hospital Chan Kai Memorial College was the only team won the Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award

March 2007	Shanghai China Odyssey of the Mind Competitions – Kwun Tong Kung Lok Government Secondary School won the Best Performance in Spontaneous Problem Award in the Competitions.
May 2007	2007 World Finals – 6 Championship Teams participated in the 2007 World Finals in Michigan , USA
	Marvelous Achievements in the 2007 World Finals – King Ling College and POH Chan Kai Memorial College won the 2nd Runner-up in <The Large and Small of It> Division II and III respectively.
