Format
Each school or youth centre can send a maximum of 2 teams to participate in the Local Competitions on the basis of 1 team per problem per division. Each team consists of up to 7 students and works under the guidance of at least 1 coach.

Eligibility
Students can enroll for the Division I, II or III competitions according to their age on 1 May in the year they will be competing:

Division I : Below the age of 12
Division II : Below the age of 15
Division III : Aged 15 or above and attending full-time secondary schools

Briefing Session for School and Youth Centre Personnel
Interested schools and youth centres will be invited to attend the Briefing Session held at the end of September every year to facilitate their understanding of the Odyssey of the Mind Programme. Sharing with coaches and participating students will be arranged.

Training Programmes for Coaches and Participating Teams
The Coaches' Training Workshop held in November aims to orientate coaches towards the Odyssey of the Mind Programme and equip them with the necessary coaching skills and knowledge. The Orientation Session for Participating Teams is organized in late November or early December to provide students with the opportunities to experience the fun and excitement of the Odyssey of the Mind Programme.

Local Competitions
The Hong Kong Local Competitions is held in March annually. All participating teams will present their Long-term Problem solutions and attend the Spontaneous Problem competitions during the tournament. Principals, teachers and other non-participating students are invited to visit the Competitions and share the fruits of success with the teams.

Odyssey of the Mind World Finals
Championship teams in the Local Competitions may be sent to represent Hong Kong at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals held in the United States in May every year.
